Infrastructure to become a new feature of EXPO REAL

- EXPO REAL expands trade fair focus to include infrastructure
- Great need for and strong interest in investment in infrastructure
- Special show and conferences provide information
EXPO REAL, Europe’s largest trade fair for real estate and investment, is setting the course for the future by expanding its focus to include infrastructure. Starting this year, EXPO REAL, which takes place in Munich from October 5 to 7, will be the “International Trade Fair for Real Estate, Investment and Infrastructure.”
The need for investment in infrastructure is growing. In many places, public authorities can no longer cover the expenditure on its own. However, the new business area is attracting a great deal of attention from investors and financiers. Claudia Boymanns, Exhibition Director of EXPO REAL, explains: “Various aspects of infrastructure, such as airports, ports, renewable energies, and PPP models, were already selectively addressed at EXPO REAL in the past. Given the growing interest among investors and project developers in infrastructure, we have now decided to expand our focus. In addition, numerous discussions within the industry show us that infrastructure is also becoming an increasingly important factor for every property. That applies both to the buildings themselves and to their immediate and wider surroundings.”
The infrastructure spectrum in which investments can and should be made is wide. “At EXPO REAL, the new focus of investable infrastructure is on energy, and digital and social infrastructure,” says Boymanns. “Both investor interest and project developments for potential investments serve as our guide.” Specifically, that includes, for example, data centers, schools, and kindergartens, as well as wind farms as part of renewable energies.
Infrastructure will be another focus of the conference program
Investable infrastructure will also feature prominently in the conference program for EXPO REAL 2026. A special show is also planned to present specific investment strategies in the infrastructure sector and relevant projects. The focus should be not only on construction but also on operating investable infrastructure.
