Being part of our society, we, Messe München, are dedicated to our social and ecological responsibilities. Therefore, sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy.
We are committed ourselves to become CO2 neutral by 2030 - 20 years ahead of the goal set out in the Paris Climate Agreement and 10 years earlier than targeted by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA).
For this purpose, we have developed a sustainability strategy tailored to the exhibition industry. As part of our holistic sustainability program, we continuously initiate projects, which aim to reduce the CO2 emissions of Messe München.
We strive for sustainability for ourselves and our customers. We are actively promoting sustainability at our events.
As one of the most important real estate fairs in Europe, we not only want to set an example, but point the way.
Our priorities:
• 220,000 square meters of green space, around 2,500 trees, green hall exterior walls and 71,000 square meters of green roof - our exhibition grounds are literally "green".
• The photovoltaic system on the roofs of our exhibition halls supports the supply of green electricity on the exhibition grounds. It is one of the world’s largest rooftop photovoltaic systems.• Non-produced electricity is purchased as 100% green electricity.
• Replacement of conventional lighting in all exhibition halls, in the three main entrances and the exhibition centre by the end of 2026.
• Heat supply of the exhibition grounds via geothermal energy.
• Supply of the trade fair lake with rainwater and groundwater.
