EXPO REAL Decarb: The Future of Sustainable Real Estate

Decarbonizing real estate for a sustainable future

The Paris climate agreement aims to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius if possible, but in any case to well below two degrees Celsius compared with the pre-industrial era. This is the only way to ensure that development is resilient to the consequences of climate change. The building sector is one of the largest CO2 emitters. On average, real estate accounts for 60 percent of climate-damaging CO2 emissions in cities around the world. Accordingly, decarbonization of the real estate sector is crucial for climate protection.

The decarbonization required to achieve this goal will require major joint efforts by all stakeholders in the real estate industry to implement climate-neutral projects in the future or to modernize the existing building stock in a climate-optimized manner. Buildings can significantly reduce their CO2 emissions by using renewable energy, energy efficiency measures and sustainable building materials.

For this purpose, there will be the EXPO REAL Decarb presentation area for the first time at EXPO REAL 2023. Innovative solutions and first practical examples will be shown and explained by suppliers, start-ups, innovative construction companies and other experts. In the conference program of the Decarb Arena, current topics will be discussed over all three days of the trade fair.

Highlights at EXPO REAL Decarb

  • Innovations: Presentation of green technologies and innovative concepts
  • Knowledge advantage: Expert knowledge on how to establish a sustainable and climate-friendly real estate industry
  • Market overview: Overview of the economic opportunities offered by decarbonization in the real estate industry
  • Exchange: Networking with established companies and startups offering solutions for decarbonizing real estate
  • Environmental protection: Sustainable stand construction
